New Issue Tracker for Community Development!
🛠️ New SSH Issue Tracker with NickServ Authentication is Live!
We're excited to announce a new feature available to all TransIRC.Chat users — a command-line issue tracker you can access directly via our SSH service, authenticated using your IRC NickServ credentials. This means IRC and our tracker now live in the same secure ecosystem.
How to Access
To get started, SSH into our backend system with your NickServ login. You can get access details using !backdoor on the IRC server.
After logging in, you'll see a menu. Simply select:
Choose IRC client:
- irssi
- weechat
- tinyirc
- Issue Tracker
What Can It Do?
The issue tracker is designed to be intuitive and minimalist while still being useful for community coordination, tracking bugs, and submitting suggestions.
It currently provides a CLI interface authenticated via NickServ using our SSH backdoor as the host launcher.
Here we can create issues for various things on the site/services/community and make additions and updates here.
While currently CLI it will soon also have a web based version :)
Authenticated, Secure, and Community-Oriented
What makes this system unique is that authentication is done via NickServ, the same system you use to identify yourself on IRC. This ensures the same identity is used across IRC, issue tracking, and soon — the web.
If you’re already part of the TransIRC network, you’re already set up to use it. If you’re new, just register your nick on IRC, and you’ll automatically have access to the tracker via SSH.
🌐 Web Frontend Coming Soon
While the current version is terminal-only, we’re working hard on building a web-based interface to this issue tracker. It’ll let you interact with your issues visually in your browser, while still tying everything back to your NickServ identity.
This will make it even easier to stay involved with development, moderation, suggestions, and reporting — whether you’re a shell nerd or prefer clicking buttons.
Why This Matters
We built this system because community tools should be:
- Inclusive – you don't need GitHub or external logins to participate.
- Integrated – your IRC identity is your passport across services.
- Accessible – text-based UIs are friendly to screen readers and CLI users.
- Transparent – everyone can view and track contributions and issues.
Whether you’re reporting bugs, suggesting new features, or organizing community tasks, the new issue tracker is here to help us all build something better — together.
With love,
The TransIRC Team
